Guerilla Marketing idea to help Cairns tourism market
A flash of simple brilliance came to me this morning, pondering the tourism scene in Cairns. I spent a number of years in the 90's schlepping away on Green island and as guide for Foaming Fury.
More recently I've spent 9 years in China.....anyway, back to my idea.....
Asian people, especially Chinese pax travelling in groups, enjoy passing the time playing cards. It's a fact.
I suggest a local company print playing cards with pictures of all the optional tours available in Cairns. 52 company ads in the hands of tourists....staring them right in the face.
Think about it.......the plethora of brochures that line the tour desk walls scattered around Cairns.....Chinese tourists never get to see because they're not FITs.
Imagine if they had the cards issued when they paid in full in China. They'd have time to obviously play a few hands of cards, and see the wonderful optional tours Cairns has to offer....before they got here. They'd be ready to try what ever took their interest.
Bulk printed cards would cost nothing! For a smaller company to get exposure it would be great...for the bigger companies.....decision could be made and prebooked before arriving!
I believe this idea is cost effective, targeted at one of our largest markets and feasible.

Cerebral Implant - RFID chips, new music & CairnsBlog.net
You can now find me on the blog rollcall @ CairnsBlog.Net......the scribe over there was being extremely helpful when he did this..along with inquiring if I'd like to advertise on his site. I thought this was a generous offer....until I was told all advertising is paid!
Now this might be his business model...to send a friend request on facebook, comment on your blog and then cast in a line.......uncool.
This new music - Cerebral Implant - has an RFID theme. I had Swine Flu when I was in China but didn't take any medication for it. I just toughed it out on the couch with DVD's and takeaway meals. It was quite peculiar as almost all the Chinese teachers were given the vaccine shot, only the foreign teachers missed out. I wasn't too upset however, as I'd watched a conspiracy documentary on governments using the Swine flu vaccine as a way to inject nano RFID's into unsuspecting people of interest......and lord knows.....I'm of little interest to anyone! HA!

Good local acoustic tunes at The Tanks
I ventured out to the Tanks last night to see 3 musical acts and had a great night. The crowd was nice, a good size and everyone there appreciated the 3 acts that came to play.
I would really like to host an Ignite evening there..........if you haven't heard of it, check out this link. I think people in Cairns would go bananas for such an event. I'm sure we're not short of interesting speakers to fill 20 spots....I would love to be involved in this event!

Soldier trilogy - part 1
I made a trilogy of songs labelled the "Soldier" series. They are now a favourite of mine and are unique for the fact they're a musical trilogy.
Every songwriter, poet or blogger has an underlying inspiration for their work. A story they want to tell.
For this project, I had an image in my mind of a lost soldier in the jungle, fighting himself as well as the enemy.......added some classic voice clips to catch the mood.......I wonder if anyone can guess the two films they are from?

The "X" factor - learn some new lines
I admit I watch the X factor. one of those love to hate kind of things.......The thing that gets up my @#$ is the judges. Can they not learn some new tag lines? They're so predictable that there's no constructive criticism going on at all.

Big Brother
This tune was inspired by ever present PSB officers at an incident before the Olympics in China. A friend and I were hauled out of work by the authorities to answer questions on a CCTV footage they had of us in a park the day before.........you're never alone. Some good sound bites add flavour to the chase.
